Scotlandville Community Development Corporation (SCDC) is a Louisiana volunteer-based, not-for-profit, 501 (c) (3) organization, incorporated in 1994. SCDC is dedicated to providing service and support to the community and community based organizations in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Our mission is to be a catalyst for change, which revitalizes the community through affordable housing, economic investments and social development. SCDC maximizes resources and neighborhood participation to produce an economically sound community. SCDC’s core program areas are education, financial wellness, blight elimination, economic development and affordable housing.
SCDC has become an agent of change in the Baton Rouge area and today can boast of many accomplishments, including 25 newly constructed single family homes, 10 renovated single-family homes; all sold to low-to moderate families who were first-time homebuyers; leveraging almost 6.2 million dollars in private and public funds. SCDC has also completed a $5 million – 58 single family home, tax credit project that changed the face of Goudchaux Street in the Scotlandville community. This undeveloped and over grown blight parcel had been an eyesore for more than 50 years.
Celebrating over 25 years as a community based organization, we are committed to providing housing development and financial training with emphasis on credit restoration and homebuyer education to low-to- moderate families and individuals in the Baton Rouge community.
Current pending projects include, a 50K HUD community volunteer project for a Covered Pavilion, two Double dwellings with a lease option valued at 525K, and three single family dwellings for first – time homebuyers, valued at 400K..
SCDC continues to partner with numerous banks to host homebuyer seminars and one-on-one counseling sessions to help families realize the value of good credit and good banking.
SCDC has also assisted participants in the past with topics such as: How to Choose a Contractor, How to Manage Your Resources, Identifying Recovery Resources, and Caring for Yourself During Crises.
Scotlandville Community Development Corporation continues to provide much needed rental and homeownership opportunities for families across the City who desire to realize their Homeownership dream.
